Award for the development of a globally unique glasses-free 3D process chain. Innovation from Aalen sets new standards in digital imaging.
Aalen/Stuttgart, 13. November 2025
3D Global GmbH from Aalen is the winner of this year’s Dr. Rudolf Eberle Prize in Baden-Württemberg. The company is awarded for its globally unique glass-free 3D process chain, which enables a new era of digital visualization “Made in Baden-Württemberg”. With the development of the so-called 3DG process chain, 3D Global GmbH has created a technology that transfers natural spatial vision to screens. Without glasses, without fatigue, in real time.
The renowned Innovation Award of the State of Baden-Württemberg recognizes outstanding technical developments of medium-sized companies every year. The jury was impressed by the high technological depth, the uniqueness in the international competition and the importance of 3D Global GmbH for the technology region of Ostwürttemberg.
Revolution of Vision
With the specially developed 3DG process chain, 3D Global GmbH combines camera, electronics, software and display technologies into a continuous system. It makes it possible to see content not only two-dimensionally, but realistically with depth and spatial perception – without any additional devices.
The technology is used in areas such as medical technology, automotive, industry, education and digital signage. In medicine, for example, it replaces classic eyepiece microscopes with digital 3D views that allow multiple people to view an operating field precisely in real time – even remotely.
“It is our deep conviction that Germany can only be successful if innovative products with unique selling points and resulting benefits are produced for the customer,” explains Dr. Matthias Hohenstein, Founder and Group CEO of 3D Global GmbH.
“In the field of screens and visualizations, we can offer such a unique selling point with the 3D functionality and our entire 3D process chain. We are very happy that the jury is also assessing this for the award of the Innovation Award, and we are extremely pleased about this award for our entire team.”
From idea to industrial application
The origins of 3D Global date back to 2011, when the first research on digital microscopy and 3D imaging began from the Aalen University of Applied Sciences. 3D Global GmbH was officially founded in 2017. Since then, the company has grown steadily, with around 50 employees today. “In the past two years alone, 3D Global has doubled its revenues and continues its strong growth in the coming years.
“In the beginning there is always an innovation,” says Selcuk Özer, Group CBDO of 3D Global GmbH. “Then it’s time to create applications that solve real-world problems and show how to do better. We have succeeded in establishing strategic partnerships and being present with reference customers worldwide. Thanks to our technology, we see the best opportunities to further significantly expand sales growth in the coming years. Research at the university, innovation in the company, visibility at leading events – this is our Baden-Württemberg successful model. From the region with the aspiration to become a world market leader.”
Technology from Baden-Württemberg with global appeal
3D Global GmbH exemplifies the innovation potential of the Baden-Württemberg location. In close cooperation with the Aalen University of Applied Sciences, the Ostwürttemberg digitization center and with the support of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, 3D Global GmbH has brought the region ‘Photonic Valley’ into even greater focus internationally through its pioneering 3D technology.
With the glasses-free 3D technology, 3D Global not only creates new markets, but also qualified jobs in development, manufacturing and software.
