Premiere at ESCRS 2025 in Copenhagen
Aalen/Munich
3D Global GmbH, a leading provider of glasses-free 3D technologies, and the MedTech company Custom Surgical GmbH entered into a strategic partnership on March 19, 2025.
Together, they developed the MicroREC 3D System, an innovative add-on module for the digitalization of slit lamps and microscopes in ophthalmology. Custom Surgical has added the product to its portfolio, while the 3D camera and 3D monitor are supplied by 3D Global.
The system combines a high-resolution 3D camera with a standalone 3D monitor, enabling the visualization and documentation of ophthalmic examinations in glasses-free 3D. This elevates diagnostics, education, and patient communication to a new level.
Premiere at ESCRS 2025
The partnership and the MicroREC 3D System were presented for the first time to a professional audience at the international congress ESCRS (European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) in Copenhagen (September 12–16, 2025). Custom Surgical showcased the system there.
Benefits of the MicroREC 3D System
- Glasses-free 3D visualization: Natural spatial perception without glasses for doctors and educators.
- High-resolution image quality: Detailed visualization of ophthalmic structures.
- Documentation and archiving: Easy recording and storage of examinations for training and patient education.
- Flexibility: Compatible with slit lamps and microscopes from various manufacturers.
- Patient communication: Improved visualization to help patients understand diagnoses and treatment options.
Significance for the Industry
The cooperation combined Custom Surgical’s expertise in developing digital imaging solutions with 3D Global’s pioneering work in glasses-free 3D displays. The goal was to digitalize ophthalmic workplaces and significantly improve visual documentation
Mr. Selcuk Özer, Chief Business Development Officer at 3D Global GmbH, was also present at ESCRS and explained: “We are very excited about the partnership with Custom Surgical. Together, we are taking ophthalmic imaging to a new level, making it immersive and intuitive for both doctors and patients. The positive feedback at ESCRS exceeded our expectations.”
